Kambri Clare Ivory

Kambri Clare Ivory was born on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 1:40 am. She weighted 6 lbs and 11 oz. and was 19 inches long. Brandi had been having contractions for quite some time leading up to Kambri's delivery but on sunday the 17th they became stronger and stronger, and closer and closer together. She was such a trooper, sitting through church and even when we got home. She didn't want to get her hopes up by going to the hospital and being sent home, so she just tried as much as she could to relax at the house. We even had our home teachers come over and share a message with us around 7:30 pm. We finally went to the hospital and got her hooked up to the monitors. It was always so much fun to hear little Kambri's heart beat on the monitor but we really felt that this was going to be the night that we finally got to meet her. The nurses checked Brandi and they ended up keeping us in the hospital. That was quite the mixture of emotions for me. I knew that what we had waited so long for was about to happen. Brandi quickly asked for an epidural so she could be more comfortable. The anesthetist came in and did the procedure. Brandi was a pro at getting one already because of the version that had been done. She said that it didn't even hurt. Within an hour and a half, Dr. Sanders, the O.B. on call came in and told her that they were going to break her water. Quick side note, we were sad that our normal doctor, Dr. Heath, wasn't able to deliver Kambri but we really liked Dr. Sanders. They broke Brandi's water and by 1 am she was pushing. She only pushed for about 40 minutes and Kambri was here! She is so beautiful! We're a little bit biased but we think that she is the most beautiful baby ever. ha ha Brandi had a great experience. There are so many negative stories and feelings towards the birthing process. She described it to me as "the greatest experience that she has ever had. I wouldn't trade it for anything." It wasn't easy and never was supposed to be but she was so positive throughout the whole ordeal. I really think that that is what made all the difference. We love Kambri so much and are so excited to see her grow up and learn what she needs to do to be happy and successful in life. We just hope that we can teach her the things that she needs to know.

First day at home

3 days old, rockin' her bow

On thursday the 21st Kambri had her first doctor's appointment. We loaded her up in the car seat and were off for our first outing. I think that going to the doctors is going to be one of my least favorite things to do with her because it is just so sad. ha ha Necessary but sad. She didn't like it too much being stirpped down and laying on the table so the doctor could listen to her heart and lungs. All was well at her appointment and that is all that we can ever ask for. She is such a blessing in our lives and we're so excited to be able to have her in our home.

Her stats for her 4 day appointment:
Weight: 6 lbs 7 oz 13th percentile
Height: 19.5 inches 46th percentile
Head Circumference: 13.25 in 20th percentile
